About me
I am Ivy Kim, a Certified Nature Connected Coach (NCC) and Transformational Wilderness Guide (TWG). Through deep listening, powerful questioning, and motivating exercises, my focus is to empower and support my clients to make the changes they desire or reach the goals they want to achieve. As a professional coach, I :
I have a never ending curiosity about partnering with nature, creativity, and mind/body/spirit to help clients connect with and build a life according to their true purpose. Training and Certifications The Earth Based Institute Nature Connected Coaching program is approved by the International Coach Federation (ICF). For my certification as a Nature Connected Coach (NCC), I completed 317 coach specific training hours. This level of coach training hours qualifies for the Master Certified Coach education level through the ICF. Currently (2024), I am actively working on the ICF Professional Coach Credential (PCC) having accrued 500+ client coaching hours and I am on my way to accruing the 2500 client coaching hours to apply for consideration for the full Master Coach level credential. In 2019, I completed an additional training to guide clients through multi-day processes and Quests through a Transformational Wilderness Guide (TWG) certification with Earth Based Institute. For seven years with EBI, I served as a mentor coach and teaching assistant to help deliver the NCC curriculum to students in the program. In this position, I served as an academic advisor, a teaching assistant, and a Nature-Connected life coach for my student mentees. I am well-versed with the coaching process as it relates to transformational change, transitions, and accountability, the ICF Standards of Coaching, the ICF Core Competencies, Working with Grief and Trauma, Incorporating Gestalt & Somatic Awareness, and crafting individualized Long Term Coaching programs. In Spring 2022, I completed a Master of Arts in Ecopsychology from Naropa University. My thesis explored how place relationship and creative ritual can contribute to resilience. These two themes also directly relate to my coaching style and offerings-- where I present invitations for clients to relate deeply with the land and their creative wisdom. Also, I have a Master of Arts in Painting and Drawing from the University of Colorado at Boulder. As a practicing artist for over 23 years, I bring a creative sensitivity to the conversations and exercises in sessions. The metaphors and artistic actions that arise in a session add a deep level of clarity to the process. Other important continuing education, workshops and practices: I have completed two wilderness solo fasts--meaning I have gone twice into the wilderness alone for 3 or 4 nights camping without food while focusing on a series of intentions, seeking connection and information from nature in a deep way. These investigations were only made possible through the continuous support of guides and my community. In 2018, I participated in a week-long workshop with Bill Plotkin and Geneen Marie Hagan of Animas Valley Institute. In 2021, I studied online with The Embody Lab and their Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy Certification program to better understand the dimensions of trauma from individual to collective to intergenerational and the ways to support healing & resilience through somatics, curiosity, relationships and attunement, In 2023, I completed Untriggered with the Connection Institute and went on to assist in a training of the same skills of compassionate listening and mirroring, nervous system regulation and attunement skills with a nonprofit group in Asheville, NC. Since 2015, I have partnered with nonprofits in the Gunnison Valley to deliver Mindfulness and Creativity courses in the outdoors. I participate weekly in Circling to practice authenticity in the moment, become aware of my motivations and unconscious habitual patterns, practice essential skills of empathetic listening and owned language (awareness of what's mine and what's yours/not projections), and to widen my capacity to be with myself and others in a variety of emotional states. "Ivy is one of the most genuine humans I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. She really shows up for me every time we talk by listening deeply and intently. She reflects my language and energy very effectively. Her energy is calm and gentle; I feel as if I'm in a very safe space sharing myself with Ivy. I especially love her creativity and ability to bring that into our sessions."
